Hollywood – and the summer sun – came to Downside School last Friday evening as our Upper Sixth Formers enjoyed an evening of celebration with family, friends and staff at their Leaver’s Ball.
The sense of the community spirit that is so distinct at Downside was evident as fellow pupils greeted each other so warmly to mark the end of their school years together.
The themed marquee, which was placed next to the School Pavilion, was wonderfully decorated à la Hollywood, with superb attention to detail throughout. The red carpet leading into through the entrance was thoughtfully bedecked with a Hollywood Walk of Fame star – one for each leaver to take home with them.
Guests were treated to canapés and champagne on arrival, followed by a delicious dinner which included duck liver parfait, yeasted cauliflower, tournedos of beef and a dark chocolate delice. After dinner the dance floor soon filled up with movers and shakers enjoying lively music from south-west based ‘Limited Edition’.
Thanks go to the award-winning Holroyd Howe catering team for creating such wonderful food, and to everyone at School who helped to organise the event. The evening was a tremendous success and a lovely way for our Upper Sixth Formers and their parents to start the summer holidays.
We wish all our leavers well as they embark on their next adventures in life.
