In Design & Technology, pupils combine practical and technological skills with creative thinking to design and make products and systems that meet human needs. They learn to use current technologies and consider the impact of future technological developments. They learn to think creatively and intervene to improve the quality of life, solving problems as individuals and members of a team.

The department runs a number of activity sessions outside of timetabled lessons, including on Sunday afternoons, so students who do not pursue the subject formally at GCSE or A level can still use the facilities. We currently offer AQA Design and Technology at GCSE and AQA Product Design A level examination courses.

The department is popular among students and is justly proud of its A level and GCSE results over recent years, which have been excellent.

The School has recently invested heavily in upgrading Computer Aided Design and Computer Aided Manufacturing software and hardware. The department has a dedicated IT Suite, so that every student has their own computer, and we make extensive use of SolidWorks, Cura and Keyshot.
