On 12 and 13 November, the Upper Sixth Form took a break from their usual routine to experience a reflective retreat day at the stunning Ammerdown Centre. We are grateful to have Fr. Toby Lees OP join us once again, sharing his wisdom on the ‘Virtue of Courage’.
The day was filled with meaningful activities, including morning prayer, inspiring talks, a celebratory midday Mass, small group discussions, a delicious cooked lunch, and a contemplative ‘Emmaus walk’ that concluded near the iconic Ammerdown Park tower.
Blessed with beautiful weather, pupils enjoyed breathtaking views over the Mendip Hills, even spotting Downside Abbey on the distant horizon. The retreat provided a perfect setting for reflection, connection, faith, and personal growth, with Christ at the heart of the experience.
A special thank you to Fr. Toby for his time, the staff who supported the pupils, and the pupils themselves for embracing the spirit of the retreat. We hope this day of reflection brings renewed courage as they prepare for their upcoming summer exams and the next chapter beyond Downside School.
