The annual Upper Sixth Form retreat took place on the 14 and 15 of November at the peaceful Ammerdown Retreat Centre.
Fr Toby Lees OP (Dominican Priest) joined the pupils and the theme of the retreat was ‘The Virtue of Courage’, significant both for their A level exams at the end of the year, and as the start the journeys beyond Downside in 2024.
Fr Toby encouraged the pupils to see Christ’s courage as a central figure of faith and to look moral choices within their in their lives. The day also included a lunchtime Mass, lovely lunch and an afternoon (muddy!) walk in the beautiful Ammerdown estate. The Chaplaincy would like to thank Fr Toby for giving up his time to be with us, the tutors for giving up class time to be with their tutees, and the pupils themselves, for taking up the courage to take themselves away from their busy daily lives in order grow in their faith journeys and in community with one another.
