THIRD FORMERS VISIT BLETCHLEY PARK

Posted on: 26/03/2020

This Term our Third Formers visited Bletchley Park – home of the codebreakers.

The day was packed with a wide range of activities including a guided visit of the park, an immersive cinematic experience explaining the importance of the role that Bletchley Park played during the run-up to and on D-Day, as well as a visit to the mansion and Hut 8, where Alan Turing’s office was originally located.

Pupils also took part in a Codes and Ciphers sessions, working in teams to complete a code-breaking task. The session also included an interactive demonstration of one of the few surviving Enigma machines.

All-in-all a memorable day exploring the extraordinary history of yesteryear that was pivotal to shaping the country we live in today.

“We can only see a short distance ahead, but we can see plenty there that needs to be done.” ALAN TURING
