On Wednesday 4th October, the Third Form Retreat took place, following the theme of ‘Forming Community’.
The day started with the Morning Office, led by Fr Michael. Mr Andrewartha spoke about the ‘Importance in one’s life to have the Gospel and The Rule of St Benedict as one’s guide,’ as pupils were each handed a copy of The Holy Rule of St Benedict. Our Heads of School spoke about what it means to be on a retreat, after which pupils were divided into tutor groups to discuss the Gospel of Mark 2: 1-6, where Jesus heals a paralysed man. Throughout the day pupils discussed further bible readings and took part in a midday mass in the Old Chapel.
In the afternoon, the retreat group walked in pilgrimage to St Andrews church in Holcombe where pupils were given a booklet entitled ‘Way of St Benedict’ written by Father Michael, which guided time for reading of the scripture, prayer and questions.
