Thank you to James Scanlan (S86) for arranging a very enjoyable and successful weekend around the Triennial OG Madrid Dinner on Friday 18th October.

Father Leo, Andrew Hobbs, and Rupert Orchard (R74) travelled to Spain with a party from Downside to meet with over 80 OGs, current and past parents who gathered together to remember their days at Downside. The Head Master, Andrew Hobbs and the President of St Gregory’s Society, Rupert Orchard both spoke of the recent separation of the School and Monastery moving towards new beginnings for the School and a continuing commitment to the Benedictine values which characterise an OG. We have always had a special friendship with Spain and it was great to renew those acquaintances and meet new faces.

In true Scanlan style, visitors who had travelled from overseas were entertained to a gourmet tasting menu on Thursday evening and a typical tapas lunch on Friday. The weekend ended with Mass said by Father Leo on Saturday evening, attended by lots of OGs and well-wishers.
