Yesterday evening we gathered in the Fleischner Theatre for the inaugural Fowke Recital Prize, named in honour of international concert pianist, Philip Fowke (B67) and adjudicated by world renown composer and educationalist, Paul Harris.
The recital competition was open to Upper Sixth musicians (who have reached a minimum of Grade 7): Ethan played percussion, Ciara sang, Jan-Christian played the piano, Bryn the saxophone, Charlie sang, and Paweł played the trumpet.
The standard was exceptional – it was a testament to the talent of our pupils that any one of the competitors could have won – but Mr Harris, with considered and careful explanation, awarded the prize to Charlie and Paweł.
