On the 16th of May, the Creative Collection event reunited people working in the different creative industries, including OGs and past parents, there were many areas represented – painters, musicians, supporting actors, photographers, designers, etc.
We are grateful to Matt Podesta (S86) and Dumle Kogbara (Ra84) for their assistance in organising this event, in conjunction with the Development Office, bringing together a vibrant mix of artists spanning leavers from 1967 to 2016. Wilton’s Music Hall provided the perfect atmosphere for this gathering, which made the day even more special! We had the chance to have a quick tour around their Grand Hall and learn a few facts about the history of the venue.
For those joining us for the second time, it was the perfect opportunity to build upon the connections established from the inaugural event and to welcome new faces, some of whom were joining us for their first OG event. Amongst the many conversations that flowed throughout the afternoon, one of the attendees was delighted to reconnect with the daughter of a former Downside teacher who took a great interest in their then-prospective musical aspirations.
Dumle commented that ‘it was a thoroughly enjoyable and gently inspirational second edition of the Creative Collection Networking in the relaxed grandeur of Wilton’s Music Hall. Great to be reunited with some previously familiar folk, plus making the lovely acquaintance (& friendship) of some new OGs across different generations, including those representing a very modern Downside.’
Matt summarised the afternoon as ‘another cracking gathering of OGss and friends. This time at the amazing Wilton’s Music Hall. What makes it so special is the mix of people and their varied interests and shared thoughts on life in a world where the arts are held dear.’
