We are delighted to announce that Fifth Former Laila has gained a place at the TeamBath Futures Pathway for Netball.

The pathway comprises Academy Development Centres across the South West that provide nearly 200 aspiring netballers, aged from 14 to 18, with top-class coaching and lifestyle and sports science support.

Laila’s pathway application process started in the summer when she first applied. She was selected to attend a screening at the TeamBath Academy Development Centre – a tremendous achievement given the record 450 applications that the pathway received. Laila was then given a Pre-Screening Academy Prehab Programme to complete. She undertook some of this part of the process in her own time, whilst supplementing it with technical, conditioning and strength support from Downside sport coaches.

In October Laila competed in the pathway trials held at the University of Bath and was thrilled to learn that her application was successful. Laila’s weekly sessions, which begin this Half Term, will involve two hours of on-court sessions and an hour of strength and conditioning from top coaches in the area with an ambition to trial for TeamBath U17 squad. We wish her the very best of luck in all of her sessions and will keep you updated with her progress.

Like Laila, all our netballers show great resilience, creativity and tactical awareness when playing, and are a credit to themselves and the School on and off the court.
