First to Third Form have been invited to get involved with this year’s Step into the NHS Competition.

The competition is designed to raise pupils’ aspiration, open their eyes and minds to a wide range of career opportunities in the NHS. It is also an opportunity to be recognised for excellent research work and to win some prizes!

Current Second Former said about the competition,

‘When the teachers told us we were signing up for the Step into NHS competition I was unsure of what was supposed to do. They told me that had to pick on of the over 200 jobs they have in the NGS and pick on to research, you then have to present it. They showed us the winning entry from last year, it was a girl who did a video of herself with a puppet. I thought that maybe I could try a video as well but instead my video was going to be animated. I was still unsure of what job I should pick but the teachers reassured us saying there was a quiz online.

I took the quiz, it came up with a lot of different options and I chose the on that appealed to me the most, a Medical Physicist. I had a holiday at the end of the week, so I decided to start it then. The research part didn’t take very long, it was the animating that took the longest. As I didn’t have any animating software, I used a video making software instead. I put together the individuals slides and when I go back to school emailed it to my tutor to be included in the competition.’
