St Cecilia Concert 2025

Posted on: 21/11/2025

Named in honour of St Cecilia, the patron saint of music, this year’s concert was a joyful celebration of the rich musical opportunities offered through our co-curricular programme. It provided pupils with a wonderful platform to share their talents with friends and family, showcasing the diversity and depth of music-making within our school.

The evening opened with the Percussion Ensemble, performing Follow Suit by Hicks, setting an energetic tone for the event. The Concert Band, under the direction of Mrs Randall, transported the audience to the high seas with music from Pirates of the Caribbean.

Solo performances added moments of brilliance: Ermin impressed on marimba with Etude in D minor by Goldenberg, while Emily delivered a lively interpretation of Pieczonka’s Tarantella. James brought a touch of serenity with Ivor Gurney’s Sleep.

The Pipe Band, led by Mr Kerr, filled the hall with stirring traditional marches, including The High Road to Gairloch, Mairi’s Wedding, and Scotland the Brave, complete with a dynamic drum solo in Rebel Piper.

Adding variety and flair, the Jazz Ensemble, directed by Mr Thomson, swung through classics such as Moanin’ and Sunny, while the String Ensemble offered elegance with Mozart’s Eine Kleine Nacht Musik and Fauré’s Pavane.

The evening concluded in cinematic style as the Orchestra, under Mrs Randall’s baton, performed Skyfall, leaving the audience captivated.

This concert was a testament to the dedication and creativity of our pupils and staff, and a reminder of the joy that music brings to our community.
