Each Monday, a group of Sixth Form linguists teach Spanish to pupils at Kilmersdon CofE Primary School as part of the Downside co-curricular outreach programme.

Kilmersdon Head Master, Mr Stephen Bamford, is delighted with the progress that his pupils are making, and the children themselves are enjoying the extra tuition immensely – something that the school would not normally be able to resource itself.

A lesson in progress:

To celebrate this partnership, and the end of term, we welcomed pupils and staff from the school to a Spanish day at Downside on 8th December. The event started with a presentation from Downside Spanish teacher Mrs Inglesias, who highlighted the differences between how the festive season is celebrated in Spain verses traditions in the UK. Interactive activities then followed including vocabulary testing, creative card making and joyous singing – all in Spanish.

The event finished with delicious churros and hot chocolate in the Weld Café, and a presentation of Christmas cards from Kilmersdon pupils to the Sixth Formers as a thank you for their Spanish lessons.

We wish all our friends at Kilmersdon a Feliz Navidad!
