We are extremely fortunate to have been donated a Reflecting telescope from Mr Boris Dentskevich, grandfather of current pupil Freddie and Old Gregorian, Alex (S22).

The telescope was bought by Boris in the 1990s to develop a hobby for retirement. In the years that followed, his enthusiasm grew and extra eye pieces and books were added to the collection.

This generous donation will mean that we can run an Astronomy club during the winter. This will be run and led by the Upper Sixth who will be studying the A Level Astrophysics option and open to all year groups. The telescope will provide a superb teaching and learning tool for the A Level group, who have to study the mechanics and theory behind this particular type of telescope. It will also provide a wonderful opportunity for other members of the community to “stargaze” and observe other astronomical events.

Thank you to the Dentskevich family for their generosity in providing this resource to the School.
