February half term 2023 44 pupils and 6 members of staff took part in a school ski trip to Leysin, Switzerland. This trip has been in the planning for over 18 months, which meant a great deal of excitement and anticipation had built up, not just for our pupils but staff alike. The trip included a 20-hour coach journey through France, involving a Ferry from Dover to Calais.
Whilst in resort, we were blessed with glorious sunshine and pupils soon started to get the hang of skiing (and staff started to forget the drama of such a long road journey). By the second day almost all our pupils had graduated to the main slopes under the watchful eye of our instructors. The satisfaction of completing blue and red runs for most was the highlight with pupils commenting on how much fun they have had. This was a very challenging week, and our pupils should be immensely proud of all their achievements. The staff were certainly impressed with the way our pupils worked together and the standard of skiing on display was very good. Alongside the technical skills pupils also developed resilience, teamwork and adapted their risk-taking skills whilst having a great deal of fun.
