Continuing the Sixth Form lecture series, Wednesday 11th October saw OG Stephanie Windeler (I12) talk to the pupils about her journey into journalism. After leaving Downside she was awarded a Master’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from City University of London.

She is a producer and video journalist with experience in making editorial content for television and newspapers for The Associated Press, The Telegraph, The Guardian, The Economist and more recently Channel 4 news, where she is part of the digital team.

One of Stephanie’s highlights is her work on mini-documentaries related to the US presidential elections for The Telegraph. These documentaries delved into significant topics, including the future of the Republican Party and the potential implications of Joe Biden’s presidency on Brexit. During her time at The Guardian, Stephanie worked on a wide range of content. Her portfolio includes covering high-profile football transfers in the Saudi Arabian pro league, and human interest stories related to events like the earthquake in Turkey.

Stephanie encouraged our pupils to follow their passions, explore diverse fields within journalism, and always remain curious. Her talk was an inspiring reminder that with hard work, passion, and commitment, they too can embark on their own journey of success. Her experiences, from producing documentaries on global politics to reporting on human interest stories, highlighted the exciting and diverse opportunities that journalism offers.
