Have you ever wondered how fast a rocket car made of foam can go?

On 21 September, four local primary schools will have the opportunity to find out as they join us here at Downside for an exciting Sciencescope ‘Race for the Line’ event.

Pupils and teachers from Chewton Mendip, St Benedict’s, Kilmersdon and Bishop Henderson Schools will be spending the morning designing, building and testing their rockets in teams of 3-4, learning about aerodynamics and how maths affects speed acceleration, amongst other things. Then, after lunch, it’ll be time to race their creations in the Quad!

‘These sorts of interactive, outside the classroom events showcase just how exciting science and technology are and, hopefully, will encourage more pupils into furthering their love of STEM options.’
Alex from Sciencescope.

The event will run from 9.30am-2.45pm. Race Time: 1pm.
