Royal Academy of Art Workshop
On Wednesday 3rd October, 20 Sixth and Fifth Form artists took part in a fantastic workshop run by an artist and model from the Royal Academy of Art, as part of their outreach programme.
The workshop gave the students the opportunity to do a whole day’s life drawing. It included getting the students to experiment with mark making, composition, drawing a figure from the inside out and physical activities in order to understand the energy coming from a particular pose so that they could then transfer into their drawings. This approach truly fosters a love and enthusiasm for drawing.
It was amazing to see the students grow in confidence as the day progressed, and they made eloquent contributions to the discussion of their work. Students can now take the inspiration gained from the workshop and put it into developing exciting coursework.
