Retreat Day at Downside
You and your family are warmly invited to join us at Downside on 27th April for a Retreat Day. Dom Leo Maidlow Davis (B72) will be providing a talk on the theme ‘Our Baptismal vocation to follow Christ’. When Pope John XXIII was asked, ‘What was the most important day in your life?’, he replied, passing over all the other key events of his astonishing life, ‘The day of my Baptism’.
During the Retreat, we will reflect on our Baptism and the dignity and responsibility of the various identities that it imparts to us. How can they become more real? We hope to enter more deeply and actively into the fullness of life that Jesus Christ longs to share with us. None of us can expect to become Pope, but we all have an essential mission given to us by Christ at our Baptism.
An outline of the day is detailed below, which includes an opportunity to explore the Abbey Church and gardens, with guided tours by Pat Magee (R71) and Dom Leo (B72). Pre-booking is essential, please use the form below to secure your spot.
