Downside School Remembrance Parade in bath

On Sunday, the Downside CCF band led the Remembrance Day parade through Bath.

The band started at the Guildhall, marched up through Milsom Street and back to the Abbey, prior to the Memorial Service taking place. The CCF band has taken a key part in the parade for over twenty years and it is always a huge honour to be involved.

Mr Hobbs, has received several messages from members of the public, which share in the pride Downside has in its CCF band, which we would like to share.

“Yesterday I attended the Remembrance Parade in Bath with my family and was fortunate enough to be able to see the Downside School marching band and I’d like to congratulate you on their flawless and moving performance. Over the years I have been part of more parades than I care to count including a long stint on public duties which required multiple trips down the Mall with the pipes and drums during changing of the guard. I believe your team could hold their own against any of the seasoned pros that I have marched behind and have done your school an excellent service. Well done to all and I hope to see you in future events.

“I attended Bath Remembrance celebrations on Sunday. I was blown away by your CCF band. The quality of music and the smartness of their turn out and drill reminded me of the quality I expected from my Regimental band. Please will you thank all those involved in making it happen. Whatever you’re doing at the school is clearly working and please put it into a bottle so that it can be shared around. As a retired soldier I was very impressed and particularly enjoyed watching the smallest Royal Navy cadet who might have been small in height but mighty in stature.”

“Please could you pass on my thanks and admiration for all those in Downside CCF who participated on Remembrance Sunday in Bath. I was one of the many in the crowd.”

“Your people were outstandingly the smartest on parade on Remembrance Sunday in Bath. My son, who took the salute, agrees. Compliments and respects to all involved.”
