Prize Day 2016
01 Jun 2016
Despite a rainy start to the weekend, Prize Day 2016 was a great success, with friends and family bringing the sunshine for the main event.
After Mass in the Abbey Church, the Prizegiving ceremony took place in the Sports Hall, with speeches from Dr Whitehead, Dom Leo Maidlow Davis, Alexandra Highcock and William Harwood. The Upper Sixth Form collected their prizes, before Other Prizes and School Awards were announced; the Gregorian Medal was jointly awarded to Felix Rusby and Annabel Staley, and the Old Gregorian Medal to Martin Appleby for his important contribution to Benedictine life in Bristol.
Prizes were also given to two young OG’s, Freddie Mercer and Nick Valenzia, who have been awarded first-class degrees, and a special award was presented to pupil Isaac Tse for his contribution to School life. Click here to view the pdf programme. Click here to access the Head Master’s speech.
Everyone enjoyed the meteorological contribution to ‘Music for a Summer’s Evening’ on the Friday night (in the form of a Thunder Storm), with the musical entertainment moving inside to the Theatre; by Saturday morning the sunshine had returned, with the Champagne Tent ready to launch the new ‘St Gregory’s Sparkling Wine’ by the Parents’ Association.
