members of the Petre Society and their guests joined us at Downside on Wednesday 12th March.

The day began with Whole School Mass in the Abbey Church for the Solemnity of St Gregory the Great with Abbot Nicholas Wetz presiding.

Following Mass, members were welcomed to a delicious lunch in the Butler Room, joined by the Head, Andrew Hobbs, Abbot Nicholas, and Fr Michael Patey. After lunch, guests convened in the Weld Café to hear updates from both the Abbot and the Head before visiting the new Sixth Form Centre.

We are grateful to all who attended and to those who were unable to join us—you were missed. It was a pleasure to welcome so many back to Downside, including some who had not returned in many years and Carl Tantum (R55), who also celebrated 70 years since leaving Downside.

There are many ways to support us and we are so very grateful to all who have generously chosen to leave a legacy to Downside. Did you know that even just 1% can be left in your Will to Downside so that those closest to you inherit 99%?

If you would like more information on how to become a member of the Petre Society or to discuss how you could support us, please contact the Development Office at development@downside.co.uk.
