Outdoor Adventure Day at Downside School

The feeder school Outdoor Adventure Day took place on Thursday 9th June 2022.  Three schools with 68 pupils in total, attended and took part in a variety of fun and adventurous activities.

The planned activities were designed to develop teamwork and resilience and to enable our young visitors to get a flavour of the type of activities available at Downside.

Pupils completed a `military skills` stand where the team were tasked to carry out an infiltration Patrol and then an observation test where teams worked together to try and find as many objects hidden in the woods.  Pupils also completed a basic survival activity where they built emergency shelters and learnt a little about cooking in the Field with a Kelly Kettle.  Practical Leadership Task were set for teams where pupils had to solve various problems by using initiative, communication and more importantly teamwork skills.  It was great to see the various imaginative ways to solve the various tasks!

Pupils also had an opportunity to take part in Archery, Flag Making, team sports and found time to fit in an informative visit to the Abbey Church.

This was an enjoyable day and one that the pupils will hopefully have fond memories of.
