Pupils speak of the Benedictine Values which lie at the heart of the School’s ethos openly and proudly. This is characteristic of those pupils who are not Catholic as much as those who are. ISI Report
Our Benedictine Values lie at the heart of our School community. The strength and confidence which our pupils and staff draw from belonging to a community, in which kindness and looking to the needs of others is the currency, encourages them to strive to make the most of their unique gifts and to support others to do the same.
Every year we acknowledge pupils who have made a particular impact on the lives of others with a Head Master’s Benedictine Values Award. Their acts range from supporting members of their year group, showing humility and kindness towards others, and welcoming new pupils to the School to bringing people together, mentoring younger pupils or volunteering in their local communities.
Anyone who has ever visited Downside will be familiar with the warm welcome…
