The annual golf match between the Old Gregorian Golfing Society and the School took place on Tuesday 19th October 2021 at Farrington Golf Club. The winning team this year was the School, who beat the Society by 5 1/2 matches to 3 1/2.

Playing for the OGGS team: Michael Lidell (B84), David Sheridan (C81), Simon McCall (B73), Ben Poutney (C95), Mel Field (HonOG) and Richard Jones, Director of Sport.

The School team included Rosie (3F), Zak (U6), Rob (U6), Seb (U6), Seb (5F) and Archie (5F). Prior to their match on Tuesday, the team prepared by using the Top Tracer software available at Farrington Golf Club. This was a fantastic opportunity for the group to further their learning and experience a different aspect of golf.

An enjoyable lunch followed the morning before the teams continued their match on the 18-hole Duchy Course, where pupils were each paired with a member of the OGGS. The pupils put their skills to the test and won four of the six rounds during the afternoon.

The final result, of what was a very enjoyable day, was a win for the School. Pupils appreciated the opportunity to play against the OGGS and hear stories from their time at Downside. Congratulations to all involved. Both sides look forward to meeting once again at Farrington Golf Club in 2022.
