On Saturday 8th June Downside School welcomed back just over 100 Old Gregorians for a day filled with activities, reminiscing and reconnecting.
The day kicked off with a highly anticipated cricket fixture between the Downside Wanderers Cricket Club and the School 1st XI. In a thrilling game that showcased exceptional skill and sportsmanship, the OGs took the win!
After lunch, the excitement continued with the Interhouse Chess Tournament final. This match saw Smythe and Barlow competing for the championship. After a series of strategic moves, Smythe took the title, adding another highlight to the day’s events.
The Development Office curated an archive corner filled with photographs spanning from the 1950s to the present day. This exhibit brought back many memories and sparked shared stories among the attendees, bridging generations and highlighting the enduring legacy of Downside.
Throughout the day, OGs had the opportunity to tour the Houses and the School, guided by our current pupils. These tours were not just a walk down memory lane but also a chance to witness modern Downside, sparking many fond recollections and stories from the past.
Thank you so much to all those who joined us for the day! As we look back on this wonderful event, we are already looking forward to next year’s gathering.
