This September we welcomed a new Artist-in-Residence to School – Holly Warburton.
Holly graduated from Kingston University with a First Class Honours degree in Illustration and Animation in 2018. Since then, she has worked as a freelance illustrator and animator, often digitally. Her favourite animation project of this year was an advert promoting a Bonnard exhibition for Tate Modern.
Holly is keen to share her knowledge of digital animation and illustration with Downside young artists, including the teaching of digital software applications such as Photoshop. She enjoys the variety of ideas, techniques and materials that are encouraged in art lessons, and has also learnt some new processes herself.
As part of the residency, and inspired by the beauty of the landscape at and around Downside, Holly has the opportunity and time to produce new artwork for her Studio based on a series of nature studies. She continues to consider commissions, progressing further her industry experience including, more recently, work for Stylist magazine and It’s Nice That. She also has a piece of work going to auction this week.
