We were blessed with good weather and fine food as we assembled in the Theatre Quad for the first of this year’s Music for a Summer’s Evening.
On Friday 27th May, the evening focused on the larger ensembles, with performances from the String, Brass and Close Harmony groups, and the Concert, Jazz and Elastic bands. A high standard was achieved, with Dom Kwan’s violin solo in Vivaldi’s Winter Concerto proving to be a particular highlight. The open mic session also attracted three further solo/small group performances, including an accomplished ocarina solo from Ryan.
The next Music for a Summer’s Evening is on Thursday 30th June and will focus on solos and smaller groups. There are some real musical treats in store, so please come along, and don’t forget to bring a picnic and a glass of something suitably restorative.
