On Saturday 15th November, we were proud to host our inaugural Military Dinner in the Refectory – a truly memorable evening that brought together OGs serving in the military, service parents, and our Sixth Form CCF students.

The event opened in magnificent style with a performance by the School Military Band, setting the tone for an evening of tradition, camaraderie, and celebration. Over 70 guests joined us for the black-tie dinner, impeccably prepared by our catering team.

After the meal, Major General Tim Hyams led the Q&A session alongside Freddie Hobbs (S16) and Kara Campbell Meehan (I25). The thought-provoking discussion ranged from memories of Downside to reflections on Catholicism and the strong connections we continue to maintain with the Armed Forces.

Our heartfelt thanks go to the catering team for an exceptional meal, and to the pupils who served with such professionalism.

Downside’s link with the military is long-standing and deeply valued, and we look forward to hosting more events like the Military Dinner to celebrate these connections in the future.
