On Monday 12th December, snow fell across the south, however a packed congregation of OGs, parents and friends of Downside joined together at St Patrick’s Church, Soho Square, for this year’s London Carol Service.
Downside’s Mixed, Boys and Girls Chamber Choirs sang quite magnificently with some exquisite solos from Anna, Ari, Charlie and Ayrton and trumpet descants by Paweł, creating an incredibly special evening for all in attendance.
Readings were provided by the President of St Gregory’s Society, Jonny Grew (C77), the Head, Andrew Hobbs, Head Girl, Anna, and Fourth Former, James, followed by Benediction led by Fr Michael Patey.
Following the Service, guests retired to the function room where they were greeted with a canapé and drinks reception, which provided a fantastic opportunity for the whole community to come together before Christmas.
We would like to thank Fr Alexander at St Patrick’s for hosting us in their beautiful Church.
The London Carol Service was the perfect way to end a busy Autumn of OG and Wider Community events. From all of us at Downside, we wish you a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
