On Monday 11th December, a packed congregation of OGs, parents and friends of Downside joined together at Our Most Holy Redeemer, Chelsea, for this year’s London Carol Service.
Downside’s Mixed, Boys’ and Girls’ Chamber Choirs sang quite magnificently with some exquisite solos from Charlie, Leonora, Ciara and James. Trumpet descants were provided by Paweł, creating an incredibly special evening for all in attendance.
Readings were provided by the President of St Gregory’s Society, Ken Beedle (R73), the Head, Andrew Hobbs, Ormond and Lily-Rose, followed by Benediction led by Fr Michael Patey. The servers were Ormond, Joszko and Maya, who also provided the bidding prayer readings.
Following the Service, guests retired to the Monckton room where they were greeted with a canapé and drinks reception, which provided a fantastic opportunity for the whole community to unite before Christmas.
We want to thank Canon Paschal Ryan and the team at Our Most Holy Redeemer for hosting us in their beautiful Church.
The London Carol Service offered the perfect opportunity to gather the Gregorian Family, from young children of OGs to the long-standing regulars who join us every year. After a particularly busy Autumn with many OG and Wider Community events, we wish you a very merry Christmas from all at Downside and look forward to seeing you in the New Year.
