| 2026 sees the 150th anniversary of the Petre Library celebrated with a Day of Reading for Downside on World Book Day. |
| This year we crowned two Book Champions who argued successfully for the novel The Naturals and a Manga title, Your Lie in April. |
| Staff were encouraged to keep up to date with children’s literature by taking a ‘Blind Date with a Book’ on 14 February. |
| First and Second Form pupils chose a book from the Bookbuzz selection to take home for Christmas. |
| Third and Fourth Form pupils met the winner of the 2025 Carnegie Shadowers’ Award, Nathanael Lessore while the First and Second Form welcomed Tom Palmer whose book sales have passed the million mark. |
| The library prefects encouraged their peers to recommend their favourite books for a series of photos on the Ref monitor. |
| Our Get Reading campaign is underway with a Prefects’ Choice list of books and quizzes for pupils to complete to gain entry to a prize draw. Book tokens are awarded each term to the winners. |
