Hockey is a vibrant sport at Downside. Played over both the Michaelmas (Girls) and Lent Term (Boys), Hockey provides a competitive and inclusive environment for over 200 pupils who opt to play the sport. Both girls and boys of all ages and abilities have the opportunity to engage in the spirited atmosphere created which in turn bolsters our inclusive and competitive programme.

Our students have access to highly skilled coaching professionals who deliver year-round additional training on both a group and individual basis which has proved to be very popular with our student body.

With over 15 competitive teams across the two Terms, the chance to represent the school is accessible to all. Our fixture programme is tailored to our competitive and ambitious culture with matchups against Wells Cathedral, Monkton Combe and Wellington School. We are also regularly entered into regional England Hockey tournaments which offers another opportunity to showcase our development. Students are encouraged to play Hockey outside of school with many securing their place on the Avon County Player Pathway. We continue to update and improve our programme with the vision of future successes and look forward to welcoming new players to our School.
