GCSE COMPUTER SCIENCE COMES TO DOWNSIDE
This September has seen an exciting new development in the school’s curriculum. For the first time, the school is proud to offer a GCSE in Computer Science. Over the coming months, pupils will learn how to program a computer, how the internet works and also look at cyber-crime and prevention.
Mr Ramsden, Head of Computing, has been teaching Computer Science for over 16 years and is an experienced programmer, who has worked in a variety of roles within the technology sector for many years before entering teaching.
By the end of the two year course, pupils will not only have become accomplished programmers but will have had the opportunity to develop many transferable skills such as problem solving, objective evaluation and logical thinking.
The school is looking forward to providing pupils with the opportunity to study an increasingly relevant subject which links to so many facets of our modern life.
