This year, for the first time, top set GCSE Physicists from Downside School entered the GCSE British Physics Olympiad.

The Olympiad aims to encourage the study of Physics and recognise excellence in young physicists through four annual Physics competitions. The competitions test understanding and problem-solving skills and are open to talented young physicists in school years 11-13.

Despite a particularly difficult paper, the participating Downside pupils returned a superb set of results. Eight students achieved a Bronze Award, three Silver and one pupil achieved a Gold.
