Local homeopath and children’s author, Kate Maryon, gave an excellent talk to the Friends of Downside and their guests on Saturday 30th April. Profound, moving and very interesting, she talked about how her own difficult childhood was the catalyst for both her work as a therapist and her inspiring books.
Kate’s latest book, Invisible Girl, is the story of a young girl who becomes homeless. During her talk Kate told us a few of the awful statistics she had learnt during her research for the book such as 12 children run away from home every hour and of these 70% are never reported missing!.. Not only was this talk inspiring it was also thought provoking and challenging.
A big thank you to Kate for her time and for sharing so personally, as well as to the excellent Catering team for the delicious breakfast.
