On Monday 22nd September, the Fourth Form enjoyed a memorable retreat day.
The day began with Mass together in the Old Chapel. Then each House visited inspiring locations in the beautiful Somerset sunshine: Barlow spent time in the peaceful village of Lamyatt; Caverel and Isabella explored the beautiful Stourhead National Trust estate; Smythe visited the historic Lytes Cary Manor near Yeovil; and Roberts discovered the picturesque City of Wells.
The retreats were supported by tutors, house staff, and members of the Chaplaincy team, alongside guest speakers Alex and Elspeth from the Weave of Manquehue. We are grateful to them for generously sharing their time and insights with the pupils.
Throughout the day, pupils deepened their understanding of their House Patrons and the Benedictine values that inspire them, while also taking time for personal reflection, prayer and strengthening their sense of community.
May these values continue to grow in each pupil, shaping their daily interactions and enriching the wider Downside school community.
