On Saturday 5th October, Jorge Baltazar (R15) captained the OG football team to a 6-3 win against the School.

The OG team comprised of Callum Fitzpatrick (R13), David Coram-James (S15), Lloyd Penny (R15), George Field (B15), Simon Stott (S13), Hugo Spink (S13), Ben Femi Ola (S11), Mark Coram-James (S13), Archie Ayrton-Grime (S12), Francis Brady (S12), Michael Berridge (S10), Johnny Hyslop (S18), and Derek Quinlan (S18).

Nick, Captain of the School team summaries the match from the School’s perspective:

“In our second game of the season, we hosted the Downside Old Boys. It’s one of the most anticipated games of the season, and it did not disappoint. We conceded an early goal via a penalty, but that did not make our heads drop. We battled back and got two goals in quick succession from Nicodem and Jakob. We played well and passed the ball smoothly throughout the rest of the first half, ending it 2-1 up. We started the second half in the same vein but a rash challenge resulted in another penalty for the Old Boys. Downside 1st XI quickly put that disappointment behind them as they retook the lead with a fine through ball for Juan to coolly slot past the keeper. However, in the middle parts of the second half, our focus went and we conceded three goals in quick succession. Our lead was gone. Despite playing well in the rest of the half, we never properly recovered from the bad 10 minutes of play, and the game ended up 6-3 to the Old Boys.”
