On Sunday 18th June 2023, five pupils – Oliver, Ryan, Johnny, Ottilie, Akaniro – received Holy Communion for the first time during Mass in the Abbey Church.
They had been preparing since January with Lay Chaplain Paul Andrewartha, to make this important step. Two pupils, Ottilie and Akaniro also made the decision to be received into full Communion with the Catholic Church.
After the homily, the pupils renewed their baptismal promises. Like the calling of the twelve disciples in Sunday’s gospel, they too were called by name to receive Christ in Holy Communion. All were reminded of our mandate to build communion, one of our School’s Benedictine values.
Afterwards, in the Main Hall, refreshments were served for family and friends, with a special cake cut and shared by all.
We offer our congratulations and prayers for each of them, as they continue their journey of faith.
