Duke of Edinburgh

Posted on: 22/02/2023
The exciting and challenging weekend programme of events at Downside School includes a wide range of adventure-based activities.

Last weekend, a group of intrepid Lower and Upper Sixth pupils packed their heavy rucksacks and tackled numerous Duke of Edinburgh challenges on Dartmoor’s bleak but beautiful hills.

The group included pupils from Lower Sixth completing their silver assessments and gold practice, alongside pupils from Upper Sixth completing their gold assessments.

Pupils explored the north side of Dartmoor, taking in the stunning landscape and even encountering the famous Dartmoor ponies. It was a great opportunity for pupils to test their navigating and teamworking skills as well as giving them a chance to reinforce bonds with each other.

Mr Worsman was very impressed by the resilience and positivity of all the pupils taking into account their lack of exposure to this type of challenge due to the pandemic.
