Downside celebrates excellent GCSE results

Posted on: 21/08/2025
Downside pupils have, once again, achieved excellent GCSE grades and can feel justly delighted with their achievements and deserve warm congratulations. All pupils have worked tremendously hard and have been rewarded with superb results.

Downside pupils continually impress and achieve to the best of their abilities, with 48% of grades awarded being 9–7. Sofia, Emily, Harriet and Natasza gained outstanding results, achieving only grades 7, 8 or 9, the equivalent of all A and A* grades.

Departments across the school have celebrated notable successes. The French Department achieved particularly impressive results, with 86% of pupils gaining grades 8 or 9. Computer Science pupils also performed brilliantly, while many across the year group have surpassed expectations and can now look forward to an exciting and fulfilling time in the Sixth Form.

Interim Head of Downside School, Mike Randall, commented:

“We are delighted with this year’s GCSE results. These pupils have shown remarkable resilience and commitment, working with determination and character. What pleases us most is not just the headline statistics, but the individual stories of pupils who have fulfilled their potential and now move forward with confidence into the next stage of their education. These results are also a reflection of the dedication and care of our staff, who have worked tirelessly to support, encourage and inspire pupils throughout their learning journey. Together, staff and pupils form a community where achievement is not only possible but expected, and today’s results are a wonderful celebration of that shared effort.”
