On Saturday 11th March, the Downside Association welcomed Old Gregorians, current and past parents and their families to Downside for the Lent Super Saturday. Netball, football, hockey and table tennis were all on offer, followed by our delicious match teas served in the Main Hall.
The day began at 1pm with Downside’s 1st VII Netball against the Old Gregorian Netball Team in the Sports Hall. Thank you to Annabel Staley (C16) who Captained the OG Team and to all the OG players for making it such an exciting match. The School were leading the way throughout until the last ten seconds, where the OGs scored, bringing the result to 17-17.
Outside, saw fixtures with the 1st XI Boys’ Hockey vs Collegiate, the 1st XI Football against Warminster and the U15A Boys’ Hockey vs Collegiate. All pupils who took part showed excellent determination and skill in their games, whilst in the Old Gym, the Table Tennis Tournament against King’s School Bruton made for an exciting set of matches.
Thank you to all the visiting schools and OGs for ensuring an entertaining line-up for Super Saturday and to the spectators who supported the teams. Special thanks to the Downside Association for providing a delicious Hot Chocolate welcome drink and to Holroyd Howe for the spectacular match teas. We look forward to welcoming you back to Downside for the next Super Saturday event in the Michaelmas Term of 2023.
