Saturday 11th March welcomed the return of the Downside Association Curry and Quiz Night. Hosted in the Weld Cafe, with a fantastic quiz created and delivered by Andrew Walsh-Waring (B82).
This year saw the return of the much missed DA Curry and Quiz Night, and it didn’t disappoint! Tickets sold out in record time – apologies to those who missed out, we’ll be looking into expanding next year. On the back of a very successful, if blustery, Super Saturday, quiz goers made their way into the Weld, with tables beautifully decorated and the ever-wonderful catering team on hand with drinks.
There was an exciting mix of people from the various interconnected communities associated with Downside. Past parents, current parents, OGs and locals were all represented which added to the buzzing atmosphere. A ‘slight’ hint of competitive spirit was bubbling under the surface as rivalries re-emerged and Andrew Walsh-Waring, brilliantly reprising his role as Quiz Master, laid out the ground rules (with penalties including expulsion and excommunication!).
The food was exquisite. Starters bursting with flavour (the orange and pomegranate salad a delightful surprise), plus a gorgeous selection of curries – bold, spicy and cooked to perfection. Despite fierce competition the win was taken convincingly by the locally inspired Fosseway Friends team. The bar has officially been raised!
