It’s that time of year again when we invite pupils to join our Digital Leaders Group.

The aim of the group is to promote digital literacy, safer online behaviours, and kindness and respect on- and offline. They conducts assemblies and cover events such as Safer Internet Day. The Digital Leaders also listen to what fellow pupils would like in terms of digital usage and work with the Senior Leadership Team to help realise those proposals. For example, in a short space of time, the group has reduced VPN use throughout the School making pupils much safer online.

Our Digital Leaders comprise pupils from across the years groups and is managed by Sixth Formers Jedrzej and Marina under the stewardship of Head of Computing, Mr Ramsden. All members of the group complete CPD training run by Childnet – a non-profit organisation working with organisations and businesses to help make the internet an enjoyable and safe place for children. Their Digital Leaders Programme is a youth leadership training course specifically designed to empower young people to educate their peers about online safety.

This year our Digital Leaders will put forward a mobile phone protocol with guidance for pupils and staff on the best way to manage mobiles socially, and produce a booklet for parents about how pupils at the School use the internet.
