On Friday 3rd May, Bishop Declan visited the School for the final time to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation with our pupils.
26 young people were confirmed in the Abbey Church, including some from the local parish and St Mary’s Calne, supported by families and friends.
Many congratulations to Adelaide, Hortense, Theodoar, Rennie, Euan, Jemima, Ryan, Tiana, Bea, Grace, Luc, Paula, Alice, Matilda, Viktor, Cosima, Paul, Stephen, Stephanie, Freddie, Ottilie, Johnny, Emil, Makuo, Alexandra and Natasza.
The Schola Cantorum and altar servers excelled themselves as usual in support of their friends and members of their houses.
After the Mass Mr Hobbs thanked Bishop Declan for having visited us for Confirmation Masses continuously for the last 24 years (with the exception of the pandemic in 2020). We worked out that Bishop Declan has confirmed at least 500 Downside pupils and Old Gregorians over the years he has been bishop.
