COMMUNITY SPORTING PARTNERSHIPS
11 Mar 2019
At Downside School we aim to instil in our pupils an appreciation of core Benedictine values that can help them show character in action through their association with sport.
We continually support our talented young sportsmen and women to show exceptional personal Discipline in their training and preparation; to have an awareness of the value of Humility, reminding them that regardless of the success they have achieved on their sporting journey thus far, there is always room to improve. With over 200 years of sporting history in the School, our able and aspirational individuals readily accept the honour of Stewardship, constantly striving to improve the rich legacy of sport at Downside as well as inspiring others to achieve their personal best.
Delivering values such as these will ensure that young people maintain a positive attitude and exceptional work ethic – attributes that will undoubtedly keep them ahead of the game in whatever path they choose to follow; sporting, academic or personal. It is essential to our future sporting development that this philosophy extends beyond the confines of the school and out into the wider sporting community. To this end, the range of community sporting partnerships at the school continues to grow.
In sharing our wonderful sporting facilities and attracting local and regional families to our School, we remain committed to promoting our sporting values and along with our chosen sporting partners, to encouraging young people to maintain a positive attitude and exceptional work ethic – attributes that will undoubtedly keep them ahead of the game in whatever path they choose to follow; sporting, academic or personal. This is fundamentally the role of sport, and a principle reason for Downside to maintain these extensive community partnerships.
