Claire Murphy now sits within the Senior Leadership Team at Downside School as the new permanent Director of Pastoral Care, appointed to replace Alastair Falzon. Claire is an experienced pastoral leader having been House Mistress of Isabella House for eleven years, helping to oversee the introduction of coeducation to Downside.
Andrew Hobbs has become our Acting Head Master this term. Whilst he is fulfilling this role, Stephen Ottewell, House Master of Roberts, has taken on some of the duties and responsibilities which Andrew undertook as Deputy Head Master
Andrew is a familiar face to Downside families. He arrived in 2008 and had been working as Deputy Head Master and as the Designated Safeguarding Lead. A former Cambridge Rugby Blue and London Scottish RFC player, he has coached rugby and cricket, alongside teaching Classics. Prior to working at Downside, he was a House Master at Canford School in Dorset.
