Christmas at Downside
16 Dec 2016
What a week it’s been at Downside, we’ve truly ended the term in a flurry of ‘festive fun’.
In the Downside tradition, we ended the Michaelmas term with a wonderful, atmospheric Christmas Carol Service in the Abbey Church, with friends and family making the journey to be with us. During the past week there have been a number of activities taking place across the site…yesterday afternoon we enjoyed the annual ‘Downside Dash’ during which houses compete against each other, and staff, in a relay race (which involves an ‘eating round’ at the end!). Yesterday evening, we welcomed a group of local suppliers for the Christmas Fair, and throughout the week we’ve enjoyed Christmas lunch, carol singing at the local care home, an informal recital from our resident cellists, the A Level scientists celebrated together, we decorated the Petre Library with snowflakes…and a number of festive ties and sweaters have been seen!
It’s been a busy week, and a busy term, and we look forward to much more in 2017.
Wishing you all a very Happy Christmas from Downside.
