The last week of the Michaelmas Term at Downside is always a special one.

The London Carol Service started the week of festivities at St Mary’s Church in Hampstead. Director of Music, Mr McNamara, and members of the Downside Schola Cantorum performed a wonderful repertoire of festive music for friends, families and OGs.

Pupils were busy in the Houses decorating their rooms and wrapping gifts for friends and families. On Thursday pupils and staff took part in the Christmas Dash – a hilarious Downside competition where teams have to run and then eat a mixture of food at speed, including satsumas, mince pies and cream crackers!

Later that day, after the Christmas Fair, the beautiful voices of the Schola Cantorum filled the Abbey Church for the School’s Carol Service. We were delighted that local artist Rachel Wright set up her easel and painted scenes from the Service. We hope to share these with you in due course.

We wish all our families and friends – new and old – a very Happy Christmas, and our wishes are with you for a successful New Year.
