From the opening fanfare by the Brass Group to the rousing finale with concert band and the pipers, this year’s Charity Showcase Concert delighted an enthusiastic audience with a feast of musical delights from a huge variety of musical genres.

Our large instrumental ensembles featured in the programme with a spirited performance of Rossini’s Barber of Seville Overture from the Orchestra and a rousing selection of numbers from the Concert Band including A Million Dreams from the Greatest Showman.

The newly revitalised Jazz Band had our feet tapping with numbers by Miles Davis and Herbie Hancock and the Pipe Band showed off their new toys in the form of illuminated drumsticks for some spectacular drum line skills. The Boas Brothers’ Band demonstrated that rock is alive and well at Downside and cast members of Grease gave us one last reminder of their triumphs of last week.

A thoroughly enjoyable evening which raised £200 for Horatio’s Garden Salisbury.
